Cape Town City captain Thamsanqa Mkhize pens new deal

Cape Town City have officially confirmed that captain Thamsanqa Mkhize has signed a new contract with the Mother City-based outfit.

The 33-year-old has commited his future to the club by signing a new two-year contract which will keep him at the club until 2024.

Mkhize has been ever present in the City squad and has played an influential part in the rise of the team over the years, earning him a new deal at City.

The Durban-born defender has managed to find the back of the net on seven occassions and assisted a further 10 from 166 across all competitions during his time with the Citizens.

The Citizens have since confirmed the news of Mkhize’s contract renewal on their official Twitter account: “Cape Town City is delighted to announce the renewal of City captain Thami Mkhize. Skipper signs until June 2024.

“The journey continues.”
