In 2012, Lionel Messi set yet another record and arguably his most spectacular. Germany and Bayern Munich legend Gerd Muller’s record of 85 goals in a single year stood for four decades, until a 25-year-old Lionel Messi scored 91.

In that same season, Messi won La Liga, the La Liga player of the year, the Spanish Super Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the Spanish Cup, the Club World Cup and his fourth Ballon d’Or.
