Premier League moves that may still happen as deadline day looms

Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United are all likely to be active in the transfer market this week, bringing in and letting go of players. Here are five players who might come or leave the Premier League in the next few days

The transfer window has seen Premier League teams scramble to agree on terms, prices, and deals with possible signings before the deadline on Friday, August 30, 2024.

Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United are all likely to be active in the transfer market this week, bringing in and letting go of players. Here are five players who might come or leave the Premier League in the next few days:

1. Manuel Ugarte (Paris Saint-Germain to Manchester United)

An agreement has been made between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain for the acquisition of midfielder Manuel Ugarte for a fee of €60 million, with additional payments tied to performance.

PSG weren’t willing to make a loss on the midfielder despite the arrival of Joao Neves from Benfica which signalled the end of Ugarte’s career with the French champions.

2. Scott McTominay (Manchester United to SS Napoli)

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay was initially linked with moves to Fulham, West Ham United, and Galatasaray, but none of the teams met United’s value of the midfielder.

Napoli are leading the race to sign McTominay with the club currently negotiating a reasonable deal with Manchester United to bring the Scottish international to Naples. His exit from Old Trafford would make way for the arrival of PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

3. Victor Osimhen (SS Napoli to Chelsea FC)

Several clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Al Ahli have expressed their interest in signing striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has admitted to the interest of signing a new no.9 as the club is back in the race for an Osimhen move to Stamford Bridge.

4. Mikel Merino (Real Sociedad to Arsenal)

Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino has reportedly completed his Arsenal medical as the Gunners look to finalise a £33 million deal for the Spanish midfielder’s move to North London.

Mikel Arteta’s side agreed a deal in principle with the La Liga club to sign the Spanish international as the North London club look to strengthen their options in the midfield.

5. Raheem Sterling (Chelsea to Manchester United)

Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling was exiled again from the squad following last weekend’s win against Wolves and is said to be training separately.

He even had his jersey number stripped and given to new signing Pedro Neto. Clubs like Crystal Palace and Manchester United are understood to be interested in signing Sterling if his contract talks with the Chelsea fall off, as reports suggest that Chelsea could offer both Sterling and Ben Chilwell to Manchester United in exchange for Jadon Sancho.
