Pirates suffer Memela blow for Soweto derby

Orlando Pirates will be without the services of attacker Luvuyo Memela due to injury for their Soweto derby clash against arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday afternoon.

Memela was the star of last season’s Absa Premiership clash between the two sides, netting a brace to help his side to a 3-1 victory.

The Buccaneers took to their official website to confirm that the former Cape Town All Stars man has been ruled out of the squad due to injury.

‘In terms of injury doubts, winger Luvuyo Memela has been ruled out for this encounter,’ the statement on the club’s official website read.

‘Amigo’, as he is affectionately known, suffered a knee strain and will be out for three weeks.

‘Meanwhile, midfielder Musa Nyatama is due to undergo a late fitness test after picking up a knock in the cup win over the Chilli Boys,’ concluded the statement.

The two sides clash at the FNB Stadium on Saturday with kick-off set for 3:30pm.
