Watch as Orlando Pirates legend Augusto Palacios reacts to the passing of Phil Masinga by blasting South Africa’s football culture for not honouring their stars while they are still alive.
Masinga passed away on Sunday mourning and as with most of the nation Palacios is in mourning.
The Peruvian coach was in charged of Bafana Bafana from 1992 to 94 where Masinga was one of his star forwards.
Palacios revealed to the media at the Nike Football Centre on Wednesday that he was unhappy that the former Leeds United striker didn’t get the praise he deserved while he was still alive.

The former Orlando Pirates coach asked why testimonials aren’t handed out to local footballing heroes. He pointed out the passing’s of John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu, Sizwe Motaung saying that South Africa needs to talk about its players and provide them with a legacy in the game.
‘Our football is passing, we don’t have memories,’ added the coach.
