Bafana Bafana international Thibang Phete has left Portugal to take up an offer with Al Bataeh Sharjah Football Club, who play in the UAE First Division League (second tier).
The defensive midfielder departed Portuguese side Belenenses SAD at the end of the 2021-22 season after his contract expired.
Despite whispers of a return to SA, Phete always looked destined to remain abroad and the 28-year-old has been confirmed as a new player of Al Bataeh.
Phete racked up 72 appearances for Belenenses between 2020 and 2022 and has also played four times for Bafana Bafana, with his last appearance coming in the 2-1 defeat by Morocco in June.
