Chiefs confirm Walusimbi negotiations

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that they are in talks with Kenyan club Gor Mahia over the transfer of Ugandan defender Godfrey Walusimbi.

It was reported earlier this week that Walusimbi travelled to South Africa to push a move through but did so without the permission of the club or his coach.

Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr threatened to take action against the Soweto giants due to their conduct in the transfer.

Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung, however, insisted that it was just a misunderstanding between all parties involved.

Amakhosi have now confirmed that they are in discussions with the Kenyan club and hope to reach an agreement soon.

‘The two clubs are in discussions and we hope to finalise the matter in the next few days,’ Motaung said, according to Amakhosi’s official website.

The 29-year-old left back is contracted to Mahia until 2020 and will offer an option in an area that the Glamour Boys need reinforcements in after veteran Tsepo Masilela’s departure.
