‘I have always had a connection with France national team’ – Michael Olise

France head coach Didier Deschamps has given Bayern Munich's offensive midfielder Michael Olise his first senior call-up to the France squad as they prepare for Nations League matches against Italy and Belgium.

Olise previously represented Les Bleuets in the 2024 Paris Olympics, when he contributed to seven of France’s 11 goals.

Despite being eligible to play for Les Bleus due to his mother’s French citizenship, the London-born attacker had the option to represent England in the Nations League.

When asked about his decision to play for France instead of The Lions, Olise said “I have always had a connection with the France national team, that is why I play for France.”

Michael Olise looks set to make his senior debut for France when they face Italy and Belgium in the UEFA Nations League.
