Mlambo grateful for warm reception at Pirates

Newly-signed Orlando Pirates midfielder Xola Mlambo has revealed his gratitude at the warm reception he received in his first training session for the club.

The Soweto giants put end to speculation linking them with the man known as “Ten Ten” when they snapped him up from Chippa United on Monday morning.

Mlambo had his first training session with the club on Tuesday and revealed that he had learned new things on his first day as a Buccaneer.

‘Today was a great day. Joining a big club like Orlando Pirates and having my first training session with them was great,’ he told the club’s official website.

‘I met with the coaches and they gave me a warm welcome along with my team-mates.

‘The session was interesting and I learnt different things to what I’m used to but it was a great experience,’ he concluded.

Having not trained with former club Wits for three weeks prior to his exit from the club, Mlambo is unlikely to make his debut for the Parktown outfit when they face Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday evening.
