The Benfica midfielder was a last minute addition to the Argentinian squad, but has proved to be one of the most influential at the World Cup, playing an integral part both offensively and defensively for Lionel Scalloni’s Argentina.
Fernandez made his international debut in September against Honduras and has quickly risen from a promising young prospect, to one of the first names on the team sheet.
